The Steelers acquired the Eagles cornerback in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the team announced Saturday.
The pass defender, who was reportedly unhappy with not starting, is the latest victim of Chip Kelly's trade wrath after the Eagles coach swapped LeSean McCoy to the Bills and Nick Foles to the Rams in March.
Boykin is in the final year of his contract and will earn $1.54 million this season. He will jump right into the Steelers' secondary, joining a unit led by William Gay and Cortez Allen, to give Pittsburgh a much-needed boost following the retirements of veterans Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor.
Boykin, 25, was selected out of the University of Georgia by Philadelphia in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has recorded seven interceptions and 32 pass breakups in 48 regular season games and six starts.
